When Sony debuted curved televisions a few years ago, they hit the market with a resounding thud. Nobody wanted them. The reason for this is that there’s simply no reason to use a curved television. At any significant distance, there’s no benefit to a curved screen. Yes, modern movie theater screens are curved, but they’re enormous! At the size of a home television, there’s no purpose to a curved screen. The same cannot be said for monitors. Why is this? The answer is viewing distance.
