  • exposure metering and focusing are both reliably accurate
  • W290's 185 price is good value by comparison
  • a quick and very bright AF assist lamp
  • Both the video and audio quality are excellent for a compact camera
  • Image quality is mostly very good
  • very good focusing and continuous shooting for sports photography

Cons

  • optical zoom cannot be used while recording and audio is mono only
  • detail is lost in the darker areas of the frame
  • Lack of a viewfinder can be problematic
  • doesn't have any connections for external microphones and headphones
  • Does the Sony W290 have Weather Sealing
  • Sony W290 is not the highest resolution Small Sensor camera
  • doesn't have a viewfinder and no option for external viewfinder
  • the screen has no touch support
  • RAW files are not saved which means that you have less margin for error
  • 720p is awful for today's requirements

I do not get to see many <b>Sony</b> units as their agency in the past has not the most cooperative hence this unit being supplied by Jessops. This is a small neat unit but it also has a lot of recent features and certainly worth a look.
