Plantronics RIG Gaming Headset

Pros

  • great on-ear controls
  • comfortable
  • spacious ear cups and solid microphone quality
  • 50mm dynamic drivers perform well and produce a palatable bass response
  • lightweight build and simple controls
  • easy to operate on the fly and always works on mobile devices
  • relatively lightweight compared to similarly designed gaming headsets
  • the buttons are easy to find and fairly intuitive to use
  • The Astro feel more solid and are slightly more comfortable than the Plantronics
  • the range is impressive and the reverb is satisfying
  • balanced sound

Cons

  • The isolation is poor and the microphone quality
  • virtual surroundings without external distraction
  • RIG 500 PRO is discontinued
  • sounds a bit thin and lacks a little bit of detail and airiness
  • over-ear design still obstructs a lot of airflow
  • Poor noise isolation and leakage
  • easy it would be to pull too hard and accidentally break the whole contraption
  • Explosions are particularly prone to the same distortion
  • bass presence is busted though
  • The remote is quite large and a bit heavy - execution
  • it is not a night-and-day change
