Pros

  • Image stabilizer is incredibly efficient
  • extremely sharp and very well built
  • Pro lens line has proven consistent and reliable for both quality and durability
  • lens feels great with a very solid build and buttery smooth focus rings
  • images are still very crisp
  • the lens offers more inherent versatility thanks to its zoom design
  • Exceptional sharpness is maintained as you stop down
  • Olympus 300mm /4 Pro is fantastically sharp
  • It works slightly better with long distant subjects
  • The focus ring is nice and smooth to use
  • fastest aperture is already sharp is definitely a comfort

Cons

  • lack sensor stabilisation
  • a little too heavy and large for the Micro Four Thirds system
  • the camera would occasionally take a picture out of the blue
  • little too large for some Micro Four Thirds cameras
  • the camera would fail to lock and therefore wouldn t initiate the burst of shots
  • no longer have to look through the viewfinder to follow a bird in flight
  • it is difficult to get the subject in frame quickly with an extreme telephoto lens
  • Vignetting is not visible across the whole range
  • the sharpness in the center is just a bit higher than in the corners
  • the focus ring was a bit too loose for my taste
  • missing the ability to zoom to a wider field of view
