Fiio X3 2nd Gen

Pros

  • actually feels mature and solid
  • The casing is still metal
  • and looks and feels excellent
  • a low noise floor and good power control
  • the instruments and voices have very good extension
  • textures and details
  • cleaner and more accurate-sounding music
  • The sound is more natural and everything comes in a very fluid and smooth way
  • extremely energetic and fun as everything was impressive
  • the size is extremely nice for portable use
  • tonal accuracy of the instruments and voices is very good

Cons

  • The X3 is marginally thicker and weighs a little bit more
  • build quality and touch screen user interface
  • affects soundstage a bit and makes sound a little bit darker
  • only new generation reference will be used to indicate updated version
  • only serves to give you visual cues for navigation
  • The soundstage on X5 is a little taller
  • X3 Gen 2 comes only in titanium gray
  • severe hissing with the Legend R
  • This site uses Akismet to reduce spam
  • higher end DACs like these actually make MP3s sound worse than on the clip
