  • The lens has a fantastic built and is very well constructed

  • no motor drive to be found
  • you cannot focus this lens beyond the maximum distance of 4 inches
  • -E65mm will only be in focus at these focal lengths

Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro

Pros

  • Great optics and great construccion
  • The lens has a fantastic built and is very well constructed

Cons

  • no motor drive to be found
  • you cannot focus this lens beyond the maximum distance of 4 inches
  • -E65mm will only be in focus at these focal lengths
  • it only takes moving the lens a literal hair to shift your depth of field
  • You cannot have 5:1 magnification at a distance of 8 inches
  • it has no focus ring at all
  • but the depth of field extremely shallow
  • No focus ring
  • just the zoom ring
  • take shots of things (in focus)
  • slightly heavier than the 100mm and when extended to 5x
