We do still have doubts whether virtual reality itself is "the new 3D" and, therefore, at risk of a lack of home interest. But it is magical when done
The PSVR still delivers a brilliant virtual-reality experience on a budget
Sony’s entry into the world of consumer virtual reality is an impressive start but it’s not yet the affordable high-end VR experience some are dreaming of
While PlayStation VR lacks the raw power of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, it’s going to make a lot of new VR fans.
When you say virtual reality to people, they usually say one of two things: if they are old enough, they talk of fond memories of watching The Lawnmower
PSVR review: Sony knocks it out of the park with its first VR headset and makes a headset everyone can enjoy. This is the best and cheapest you can buy.
PlayStation VR is the promised land for virtual reality on consoles
Earlier this year we reviewed Gunjack on the Oculus Rift at which time we declared it one of the best VR games available for the new system. Now that game comes to the PSVR, and while the designers…
Back in March Sony introduced Project Morpheus, its virtual reality gaming peripheral for the PlayStation 4. The peripheral will have 1080p resolution with a 90 degree field of view and accelerometer and gyroscope sensors built into the head mounted unit. It will work in conjunction with the PlayStation Camera, which will accurately track your head movement, and both PlayStation Move controllers and the handheld DualShock controllers. At Sony’s E3 press conference they reaffirmed that teams were hard at work at developing the peripheral focusing on software and sight and sound.
Let’s cut to the chase: PlayStation VR should be better. At its best, Sony’s new virtual reality headset manages to conjure the astonishing, immersive wonder of modern virtual reality. Just as often it is frustratingly held back by outdated hardware that can’t quite do what’s being asked of it.
The PlayStation VR is an amazing piece of technology for both the PS4 and PS4 Pro and has set the foundation for things to come. It’s basically made VR
High-end VR's first chance at mainstream success has finally arrived after years of demos, teasers and sizzle reel-filled trailers.
PlayStation VR is excellent hardware that’s exceptionally engineered and built – and if you absolutely need to jump in to the world of Virtual Reality this isn’t just the most affordable solution – it’s also the best, most rounded one.
Sony, however, hopes to speed things up with PlayStation VR. It’s more complicated that that, naturally, but there’s good reason to think PSVR could be the best-selling VR headset of the year. Sony’s device is the most comfortable VR headset I’ve ever worn.
It may not have the state-of-the-art tracking technology found in the HTC Vive, but the PlayStation VR is accessible, user-friendly, well-supported and above all, affordable.
