This SSD uses SLC caching trickery to keep write speeds high, but don't expect industry-leading performance
SanDisk and parent company WD plan to take SATA to the max with two new SSDs designed to leverage new 3D TLC BiCS NAND. Can the these SSDs unseat the 850 EVO?
The SanDisk Ultra 3D is a new client SSD similar to that of the
SanDisk packed 3D NAND into the latest Ultra 3D SSD, and we have here the 1TB variant. How does the brand better known for their memory cards and thumbdrives fare in an increasingly competitive SSD market?
The SanDisk Ultra 3D is the most affordable 4 TB SSD available, currently selling for only $390. In terms of performance, it's nearly as fast as other high-end 2.5" SATA drives, and write speeds are sustained very well since there's no TLC write hole.
SanDisk's new 3D-NAND TLC-based drive is very competitive, reasonably priced, and all-around excellent. It's a safe alternative to the iconic SSD 850 EVO.
