Panasonic has done it again with the DMC-TZ7, producing a well-designed and exceptionally versatile camera.
Steve's ConclusionLeading Panasonic's new Lumix series of cameras is the DMC-ZS3, a very powerful, full featured compact digicam. Sporting a 12x Leica optical zoom lens, Venus Engine HD processor, Mega O.I.S. (optical image stabilization) and iA (intelligent auto) mode, it has been designed to be more
When Panasonic launched the 'Travel Zoom' TZ1 back in February 2006 the Japanese electronics giant established a profitable new niche within the digital camera market: the compact superzoom. For a short while the company's TZ series was the only digital camera line that combined a long (10x) zoom with compact and pocketable dimensions, and unsurprisingly the TZ series became rather popular with consumers. More recently though, probably inspired by Panasonic's success, most of the large manufacturers have launched their own contenders in the compact superzoom bracket, many of which show that their designers must have been looking quite closely at Panasonic's products before sitting down to develop their own models.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 is a brand new entry in the travel-zoom camera category. Sporting a 12x, 25-300mm lens with optical image stabilisation, 3 inch LCD screen, 720p HD movies and 10 megapixels, the Panasonic TZ7 promises to be the ultimate do-it-all pocket camera. Available in silver, black, brown, blue and red for £349 / $399, does the TZ7 succeed? Read our in-depth, real-world review complete with image samples, videos, test shots and more...
A hybrid digital camera capable of taking great still shots, as well as 720p video.
A 12x optical zoom in a slimline digicam body with 'intelligent' auto controls and the ability to shoot HD-quality video.Panasonic has long been a leader in the ultra-zoom category, largely because it has produced cameras that are genuinely pocketable but are also easy to use, feature-rich and offer good performance. Unfortunately, it's taken almost six months since we first experienced the Lumix DMC-TZ7 at Panasonic's Asian Region launch in Singapore for a review camera to become available. That's a pity because this camera has a lot to interest potential buyers.
For travel or sports photography a long zoom is almost essential. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 (also known in Europe and Australia as the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7) takes it even further in that the wide end of the Leica DC Vario-Elmar zoom equates to a 25mm lens on a 35mm SLR, stretching out to 300mm at
Panasonic's LUMIX DMC-TZ7 digital camera is small, but it has a huge zoom and plenty of useful features
