The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ6 is a new entry in the travel-zoom camera market. Offering a 12x, 25-300mm lens with optical image stabilisation, 2.7 inch LCD screen, WVGA (848x480) movies and 10 megapixel sensor, the Panasonic TZ6 is the well-appointed cheaper sibling of the TZ7 model that we recently raved about. Available in silver and black for £269 / $299, is the TZ6 a worthy alternative? Find out by reading out latest expert review...
Last year, we picked the Panasonic DMS-TZ5 as one of our top 25 travel technology products of 2008. That camera featured a 10x optical zoom and took photos in 9 megapixels. Today, I’ll introduce you to the successor of that camera – the Lumix DMC-ZS1. The DMC-ZS1 builds on the excellent features of the TZ5 by increasing its zoom to 12x, and making photos in 10 megapixels. More recently though, probably inspired by Panasonic's success, most of the large manufacturers have launched their own contenders in the compact superzoom bracket, many of which show that their designers must have been looking quite closely at Panasonic's products before sitting down to develop their own models.
