In a clear attempt at encouraging people to print and share their images, Kodak has launched the WiFi EasyShare-One camera for storing images as well as taking them. Pictures can be viewed on its 3-inch tilt and swivel LCD screen. The four megapixel camera can hold up to 1,500 images, has a 256MB internal memory and is designed to communicate with the new wireless printing dock and Kodak's online EasyShare Gallery. The only catch is that it doesn't include the SD WiFi card, which will cost a further $99. The EasyShare-One will begin shipping in June with an expected retail price of $599.
Kodak EasyShare One
Kodak's new EasyShare One is not your typical digital camera. This baby feature integrated WiFi and a fold-out touch screen display.
Playback Mode Screens & Menus Sliding the Mode switch to the Playback position will display an index page showing recently captured images. This is just like your typical index page, allowing you to quickly search though your saved images. Pressing the Ok button or the telephoto zoom control
[ia] Although Kodak was the first manufacturer to announce a Wi-Fi-enabled compact digicam, the race to bring cameras to the local market was essentially tied with Nikon, which introduced two Coolpix cameras at the same time. Both launches come at a time when more households are installing Wi-Fi home networks and the majority of notebook PCs are Wi-Fi enabled, so the release of cameras that can use these facilities is timely.
A really solid attempt by Kodak. If they improved the sensor on this model, and managed to squeeze a bit more life from the battery, they could have a winner on their hands.
