Sony A77 II is a 24.0MP Advanced DSLR camera with a APS-C sized CMOS sensor and Sony/Minolta Alpha mount. Read our A77 II review to find its pros and cons.
The Sony SLT-A77 II is - as the name implies - an overhaul of the original A77, from from 2011. The A77 Mark II features a new autofocus sensor, and it's much more than a refreshed version of an existing design. Instead the A77 II is built around the AF module with the most focus points of any camera on the market (79), covering an extremely wide area of the frame. It's also rated to work in lighting as low as -2EV. That doesn't necessarily make it quite as sophisticated at pro-grade DSLRs, since they have more cross and diagonal sensor elements, but it looks very impressive for a camera in this part of the market.
In late 2015, many (if not most) consumers are likely to shop based on price and capability, rather than according to whether a certain model contains a mirror or not. In this category, you'll find both mirrorless and DSLR cameras that are highly capable under a variety of shooting situations, offer built-in high-spec viewfinders - either optical and electronic - and a bevy of external controls. Sony's flagship APS-C camera combines rough-and-ready durability with class-leading performance.
The Sony a77 II comes in to replace a camera that launched in 2011, the a77, so is long due an upgrade. A lot has changed during that time. Not only has
With the 2014 World Cup in Brazil approaching, this is the time manufacturers with serious interests in professional sports start revealing new cameras and lenses to selected press agencies. Both Canon and Nikon are rumored to be fielding prototype professional-level APS-C bodies during the tournament for testing. However, rival Sony appears to have stolen a march by introducing the SLT Alpha 77 II ahead of the games.
Sony's enthusiast-level SLT gets a speed boost as well as better image quality
What’s the best camera for under $1500? These midrange cameras should have capable autofocus systems, lots of direct controls and the latest sensors offering great image quality. In this buying guide we’ve rounded up all the current interchangeable lens cameras costing less than $1500 and recommended the best.
The Sony a77 Mk II is a stellar option for photojournalists.
It may be argued that a DSLR and a compact system camera (CSC) are not comparable, but these two Sony cameras are natural competitors.
Sony has launched a new translucent mirror option in their Alpha range of interchangeable lens cameras. Boasting a new autofocus system and greater ISO sensitivity, will the Sony a77 II become the king of APS-C cameras? We look back at its predecessor, the Sony a77, and consider recent Sony sensor scores, to help us decide.
The number of APS-C semi-professional cameras remains remarkably small, with the Sony A77 II being one of the most well-rounded models in both sensor performance and features. The body is only half the equation, of course, with lens choice being an equally important consideration, maybe even more so. We’ve analyzed the results of nearly 50 lenses altogether, comprising 20 different primes and 28 zooms, including wide-angle, standard, and telephoto models.
In the $900-$1200 price range you'll find both mirrorless and DSLR cameras that are highly capable, offer built-in high-spec viewfinders and a bevy of external controls. Find out which models we like best in our updated roundup.
