The Sony Alpha SLT-A35 uses Sony's clever translucent mirror technology to deliver lightening-fast autofocus performance along with speedy continuous shooting of up to 7fps. The trade-off for this is an electronic viewfinder that, while functional, doesn't come close to a traditional optical viewfinder in terms of usability
Sony Alpha SLT-A35
A good-but-not-great compact digital SLR camera
An affordable, lightweight DSLR with an electronic viewfinder and useful high-speed recording modes.Sony's just-announced SLT-A35 takes the 16.2-megapixel sensor and the Translucent Mirror Technology (TMT) technology from the popular SLT-A55V and includes them in a smaller, lighter and lower-priced camera body. Introduced to replace the SLT-A33 model, it has a fixed LCD monitor and its continuous shooting speeds at full resolution are half those offered by the A55, which remains in Sony's range. Like the SLT-A33 , the A35 lacks a GPS receiver.
The new A35 is the most affordable SLT camera from Sony, removing the optical viewfinder and moving mirror of a DSLR and replacing them with an electronic viewfinder and a fixed semi-translucent mirror. Replacing the A33 model, the Sony A35 features an improved 16.2 megapixel sensor, 1080i HD video, a tilting LCD screen, 5.5fps burst shooting and a range of creative picture controls. You’ll find this model on Sony’s Web site by looking in the DSLR department. But a DSLR it ain’t! The entry level Sony Alpha A35 has no flipping mirror! Instead, it has a fixed, semi-reflective mirror placed in the light path that transmits 66.66 per cent of the light to the CMOS sensor in the

The Sony SLT-A35 marks the second wave of Sony's radical SLT design, and does so in a way that offers to put the technology into more people's hands. This entry-level model incorporates almost all the features of the original A33 and A55, but includes what Sony promises is an improved 16MP sensor and handful of extra processing options. The only real losses are the articulated rear screen and $50 from the MSRP of the 18-55mm lens kit, compared to the A33, taking it down to $699.

Lightweight Sony SLT camera packed with innovative features
Sony announced this “Translucent Mirror Technology” reflex camera in early June 2011.The aforementioned technology, already featured on the Sony Alpha 33 and Sony Alpha 55 consists in allowing you to shoot on continuous-shooting mode (or burst mode) without the shutter-induced strobe effect. In layman’s terms you do not see the shutter occlusion in the viewfinder.
