Sony’s Alpha A330 D-SLR; Stepping Up Into A More Creative Realm

Sony is not shy about who this new D-SLR is designed for—those seeking to step up from point-and-shoot digicams into the land of interchangeable lenses and easy application of creative controls. A camera like this always presents some challenges for a reviewer, and as uncomplicated as it can be in terms of capturing good images, the question remains whether it offers good value for the money while delivering a rewarding photographic experience. Can it meet the needs of those who want to get more into their photography than just leaving it in Auto mode?

The Sony A330 is the second model that we're reviewing in Sony's revamped lineup of entry- and mid-range DSLR cameras for 2009. Heavily based on the previous A300 model, the new A330 features a new look and feel designed to make it easier to use for people new to SLR photography, whilst retaining all the key features of its predecessor. These include a 2.7 inch tilting LCD screen, Live View, anti-dust system, ISO range of 100-3200, body anti-shake system, eye-start auto-focus system and Dynamic Range Optimiser. While a lot of digital cameras have special features %C2%96 some much better than others %C2%96 a DSLR camera can normally take a better image, yes they are bulkier and even if you settle just for a single 18-55mm lens you will not regret it.
