Ricoh was a leading digital camera brand some eight years ago, and now with the R1V and a swathe of new cameras it's making a comeback.
This is a camera with broad appeal -- it's fast, fully automatic and its wide-angle lens will keep everyone in the picture.
Ricoh builds on the success of the R1
Ricoh's Caplio R1V is essentially a Caplio R1 with a 5-megapixel CCD. It's a reflection of market trends that the company is offering the new model at the same price as its predecessor. The 4.8x retracting zoom lens covers the same angles of view and combines with a 3.6x digital zoom to offer up to 17x magnification.
The Ricoh Caplio R1v updates its predecessor, the R1 and offers an extra million pixels over that model. A wide zoom provides 28-135mm focal range and
Ricoh has announced the five megapixel successor to the R1 with the aluminum-bodied Caplio R1V, which again boasts a 28mm wideangle lens, the world's fastest shutter response time of 0.01 seconds and a super close up macro mode of 1cm. Cosmetically the Caplio R1V doesn't look at all different from the R1 and maintains its slim dimensions of 25mm wide. It will be available in February at a price yet to be set.
