The format of this review has been slightly shortened as the Pentax K-r is operationally similar and identical in terms of output to the Pentax K-x that we reviewed in December 2009. We tested to confirm the image quality is identical, then concentrated the review on the differences between the two cameras. To learn everything about the K-r we recommend reading not only this review but also the full review of the Pentax K-x.
The Pentax K-r isn’t the most handsome of cameras, and the choice of eight colours (including pink and yellow) doesn’t really help. It’s what’s inside that counts, though. While its price puts it in direct
A keenly-priced DSLR camera with plenty of advanced functions and support for 720p HD video capture.Like the entry-level K-x (which we reviewed in November 2009), the mid-range Pentax K-r is offered in black, white and bright red. It sits below the K-5 (which, like the K-r, was announced in the lead-in to Photokina 2010) in Pentax's line-up. Combining the same 12.4-megapixel sensor as the K-x with a high-resolution monitor, the K-r supports the fastest burst speed of the three cameras and is the only one that can use either a rechargeable battery or four AA cells.
With full specs, price, sample images, high ISO samples and more
Pentax offers a new DSLR that's a step above entry-level.
The latest started DSLR from Pentax offers lots of photographic firepower.
The new Pentax K-r is a mid-range DSLR camera that fills the gap between the entry-level K-x and prosumer K-7 models. The 12 megapixel K-r combines the best of both cameras, inheriting the compact size and simple layout of the K-x and the high-resolution screen and AF system of the K-7. Is that enough to still remain competitive in 2010? Read our Pentax K-r expert review to find out...

Pentax K-r is a 12.0MP Entry-Level DSLR camera with a APS-C sized CMOS sensor and Pentax KAF2 mount. Read our K-r review to find its pros and cons.
The Pentax K-r is a well-built, good-value and feature-packed digital SLR. It offers superb results to those trading up from a compact camera, with minimal scrutiny of the user manual required.
Lacks HDMI output but there’s otherwise not much wrong with this entry level DSLR contender that delivers near professional image results from a
By the time you read this you will be able to buy this rather nice DSLR unit in a range of colours as well as the more normal black. To me %C2%96 providing it%C2%92s not pink %C2%96 I could not care what colour it is providing I get decent images.
Pentax's K-r is a versatile mid-range DSLR, though it's not one for video lovers.
With breakneck performance, friendly controls, tons of features and remarkably little image noise, we’re won over by this keenly priced SLR.
