Review: Sennheiser’s HD 598 may be the best-sounding headphones we’ve heard under $500, making them an outstanding value for audiophiles who you can stomach the creamy color palette.

WHEN I FIRST SAW the Sennheiser HD598’s beige-and-brown color scheme, woodgrain accents, and air-cushioned headband, images of all sorts of 1970s products fl ooded through my head: Kustom guitar amps with “tuck and roll” covering, lacquered driftwood furniture, waterbeds, Roger Dean posters. Surely the unique look of the HD598 will attract some and repel others, but kudos to Sennheiser for daring to be different.

There are only a few things which can unite people more than music. People who enjoy the same tastes in music tend to get along better, or simply enjoy sharing their favorite bands to each other. Supremely comfortable, but the sound is just too boring
