Introduction A lot of attention gets put on high-end displays and graphics, but while technology has made great advances in pushing graphics to 4K monitors, 3D displays, and all kinds of other cool stuff, I see a lot of people neglecting their audio experience, be that as part of their home cinema setup, or their desktop audio. While I must admit that motherboard technology has made huge advances, with many brands such as MSI and Gigabyte for example, putting high-end audio hardware directly onto their motherboards, I have yet to hear one that was comparable to a standalone unit. The Creative Sound Blaster X7 offers a ridiculous number of features for the money and sound quality is generally very good, but its appeal is limited.
Creative's Sound Blaster X7 DAC proves every connection you could hope for. Is it worth the investment for those ready to ascend into the audiophile realm?
I thought that the Creative Sound Blaster E5 could be the most versatile DAC/Amp. However, the Creative Sound Blaster X7 is a much more capable option.

The Creative X7 and E-Mu XM7 speakers make a striking pair of audio symbiosis and makes me wonder if there is such a thing as overkill when it comes to a PC audio setup!
To say that the Sound Blaster X7 is Creative Labs' flagship external audio solution is a bit of an understatement. Speaking to its design, the Sound Blaster X7 actually reminds
With its high resolution audio-capable DAC and powerful Class D amplifier, the Creative Sound Blaster X7 has certainly made waves in the audio community for its combination of features, quality, and price. And now we've finally been able to put one to the test. More after the jump.
You name it, the X7 can do it: It's a high-end DAC, headphone amp, USB audio device, digital amplifier, recorder, Bluetooth host, and more.
The X7 is a feature-packed DAC/amp combo, but you'll need a serious audio setup to truly take advantage of it.
Gameranx reviews Creative's flagship sound card.
Give your PC a major audio overhaul with this high-end hybrid soundcard/amp It looks like a piece of military hardware produced by Stark Industries, but what we have here is actually the X7 'soundcard' from the pioneer of that particular genre, Creative Labs. In the past, Creative's Sound Blasters used to sit inside a PC. They endowed games with a sonic accompaniment, enabled you to play music on your computer and even gave your machine 'straight-to-hard-drive' digital audio recording. Trust me, in the early '90s this stuff was revolutionary.
