Whoa! What’s this? A totally brand spanking new BlackBerry in town, something that has the BlackBerry name on it, but doesn’t seem to running the usual BlackBerry OS we’re so familiar with. After hibernating for the better part of the last year, the company formerly known as Research In Motion, known as simply BlackBerry now, has finally unleashed its long awaited smartphone running its new QNX-based BlackBerry 10 platform. For a company attempting to establish its prominence once again in the business, a lot is hinging on this gamble of sorts – especially taking into factor the exorbitant amount of time they’ve spent on it.
The first BlackBerry 10 handset, the Z10 is a thoroughly modern, high-quality smartphone with a strong focus on messaging, but a lack of popular apps and media could hold it back.
BlackBerry's back in a big way with the Z10 smartphone, but does it stack up to the hype?
The Z10 is a beautifully crafted device with excellent messaging capabilities.
Despite Blackberry building what appears to be a solid OS that can handle just about anything that is thrown at it, it still lacks the feeling of belonging. Perhaps part of this is derived from the rather nascent and desolate app store that is devoid of the main stream applications I depend on, such as Spotify, Pandora, Instagram and a stand alone Gmail app. Or perhaps it's because I want a me-too device that has an existing, and more importantly, mature eco system, such as Android and iOS.
BlackBerry's new Z10 smartphone offers a superior display, great navigation and interesting BYOD features. But is it too little, too late?
We've had BlackBerry's brand new BlackBerry Z10 handset for the better part of two weeks now. We wanted to put it through its paces as much as possible because, let's face it: BlackBerry put a ton of work into the new operating system, even delaying it a year, and it's the first time that we've had a chance to use a completely new mobile OS since Windows Phone made its a debut a few...
The BlackBerry Z10 arrives to a crowded smartphone market, crashing headlong into the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One. BlackBerry upped their game with the BlackBerry Z10, offering a full touch screen experience that delivers a very good keyboard, even without the trademark physical keyboard that BlackBerry users cling to in the face […]
A new flagship phone and a new OS, but is it too little, too late?
The BlackBerry Z10 heralds the rebirth of a fallen leader in the smartphone market. It's a clean break from the past with a big touchscreen and novel OS,...
If you're already a BlackBerry fan, this is well worth a look – but at the moment the Z10 can't quite compete with the market leaders
