Pros

  • Excellent sound and picture quality
  • The tray opens smoothly and quietly when operated
  • it played perfectly with both sound and video
  • all sounded very good on the Yamaha
  • the screenshots were upscaled and looked good on the screen
  • the picture looked razor sharp and the colors and contrasts were impressive
  • A1060 is excellent and in this case
  • The menus are nice to look at and easy to use
  • The setup menu is easy to navigate and intuitive
  • sac-disks also get a chance
  • both beautifully recorded and very high in its dynamic range

Cons

  • processor cannot handle DSD
  • The remote is somewhat cluttered and has a redundant Setup button
  • Domain Facts No detailed data available
  • only tried a few different CDs and the tests were unstructured
  • audio dropouts through out the film
  • no HDMI cable
  • as the audio track was NOT mastered correctly
  • DVD-Audio is conspicuously absent
  • pro in my rack does not pass through 4K or upscaled 4K video
  • makes CD player unnecessary
  • Yamaha have horribly mis-implemented the DAC IC
