Stax SR-007MK2 - Pros & Cons

Stax SR-007MK2

Pros

  • vocals come through with subtlety and texture
  • The tone of the headphone is just sublime
  • much more quantity
  • much better and more detailed tonality
  • purer and more realistic feel to the imaging experience and raw quality
  • pure in quality
  • the new model is nicely improved and tweaked over the previous models
  • The air factor is very good for an electrostatic
  • a good fit and seal quite easy
  • Everything sounded quite balanced and the treble was fully formed and detailed
  • Sound quality was beautiful and completely effortless

Cons

  • headphone doesn t clamp harshly either
  • new-gen model is a damned monster
  • stock cable is too long on the SR-L700MK2
  • cable noise in my music
  • sadly made of a very cheap feeling plastic-like material
  • unwieldy
  • strange looking and power hungry
  • Scheherazade sound thin and brittle
  • Nothing muddy at all to the sound
  • crazy obscure and expensive
  • there is no more dynamic vs electrostatic debate
