Sony VPL-VW260 - Pros & Cons

Sony VPL-VW260

Pros

  • good tone mapping
  • saturated colours and reasonable brightness
  • with a detailed and highly natural image
  • great SDR performance and excellent motion handling
  • actually did a pretty good job and tracked most of the saturation points very well
  • measurements and the greyscale and gamma were now delivering near reference levels of accuracy
  • accurate colours and a pleasingly bright image
  • colour accuracy also improved once the greyscale had been calibrated
  • punchy
  • vibrant and thus watchable image
  • the Sony is exceptional

Cons

  • the lens memory feature has been dropped to save money
  • Sony failed to provide any active shutter glasses
  • It may not display this or other websites correctly
  • lack of accuracy extends to the colour gamut as well
  • too much red and not enough blue in the greyscale
  • Slightly surprisingly there s no form of audio output
  • real-world dynamic range is limited
  • price still tend to use pixel-shift technology
  • of input lag on average
  • No projector - certainly no halfway-affordable one
  • lack of a dynamic contrast system
