Sony Venice - Pros & Cons

FX9 behaved well
and the images are great
The color rendition and skin tones are truly cinematic
Always Enabled Necessary cookies are absolutely essential for the website to function properly
Good luck and keep doing your awesome work
the wide shots are pretty spectacular

flattering skin tones
very good when shooting b-roll
landscapes and scenery
Audio was excellent
pretty good workout and needed to rest a couple of times
the 4K footage tremendous detail and looks very good
FX9 is easy to use and works incredibly well
flexibility back is such a relief
8k in that is also very nice
make it easy to shoot compelling lifestyle images
improvements for more intuitive operation
The 3200 ASA is incredible
advanced usability in a compact and lightweight body
solid and well-built
fast and efficient in your video capture
It easily achieved all the tasks I threw at it with aplomb
in-body image stabilization was quite good
it integrates so well with the design of the camera
The viewfinder design is quite intuitive and well thought out
Alexa look
and their cameras are great to work with
The viewfinder mount is also very easy to use
The Venice makes perfect sense as an A cam
the camera is fairly compact for a 6k full frame camera
very sharp and clean footage

Grip Radio Mics Media
Fan noise is too high to record dialogue in a quiet room
the quiet mode during the shoot unfortunately
Boot time is just shy of a minute
noisy and most studios don t have sound proofing
in-built mic so I could record reference tracks
the stacked sensors are still expensive now
No flip out screen
this camera is too big and heavy
no film lights on this shoot at all
it is not sensor from A1
lot of cameras seem to have buttons where they ll fit
It s also has quite noisy fans
the camera truck breaking down and showing up 3 hours late
lack of respect for a senior grade disrespectful
4K RAW is the only way to shoot on the F55
Dolby Atmos on OTT Platforms
it only records a 6K image
it s not a perfect cinema camera

A Review of the Sony a7S III In the Field

I am not a Sony shooter, but, for the last couple of months, I’ve gotten a chance to play with the Sony a7S III and use it for an assortment of projects. Here are my impressions from the outside looking in. The other day I was having coffee with my mentor from the American Society of Cinematographers. He’s a very well-established cinematographer responsible for the looks of several highly-regarded movies and TV shows.
