The Sony A33 is a new kind of interchangeable lens camera, removing the optical viewfinder and moving mirror of a DSLR and replacing them with an electronic viewfinder and a fixed semi-translucent mirror. This combination allows the A33 to be smaller, lighter, faster and offer a better Live View experience than a comparably priced DSLR. Read our Sony A33 Review to find out if this is the future of interchangeable lens cameras...

It’s been a great year for the DSLR. Not only have we seen the top models capture stills of amazing quality, leading to many serious workers questioning the need for medium format digital capture … and then, to many an amazed onlooker, we’ve seen TV series and feature films shot with high end stills cameras.

A compact, lightweight DSLR with most of the features of the SLT-A55V but slightly lower resolution and a $300 lower price tag.Sony's SLT-A33 offers most of the features of the SLT-A55V that we reviewed in August but the sensor's resolution is reduced to 14.2 megapixels (effective), its burst speeds and power management are decreased. The built-in GPS receiver is also absent.
