Pros

  • minimize focus noise
  • The zoom as well as focus operation is very quiet
  • The performance on the Canon is still good
  • high quality materials and feels very solid
  • consistent and efficient
  • both lenses perform quite well wide open
  • performs a lot better than the Canon
  • The price given the level of performance is very good
  • Sony 28-135mm is a remarkable feat of engineering

Cons

  • slide the focussing ring backward to engage manual focus
  • The wide focus ring does not have hard stops
  • zoom lenses for stills cameras do not hold focus when zoomed
  • size is sometimes too large to fit in a designated space in a cut-foam case or soft pouch
  • Sony does not make a stand-alone video remote controller
  • is no video remote for A7 cameras
  • does not fit with the Sony lens shade attached
  • filters max out at a diameter of 82mm
  • The iris ring can be locked down
  • softness at the edges with a wide open aperture
  • it distorts in and out on zoom
