Pros

  • of face detection and smile recognition is the Party-shot
  • high-speed continuous mode is the most remarkable
  • so compact and so slim
  • the images are remarkably sharp and usable
  • Intelligent Auto can recognize nine scenes
  • lighting conditions
  • The build quality is excellent
  • autofocus system is also nice and fast
  • Image noise is very well handled
  • more conventional features are equally impressive
  • Colour rendition is very smooth and natural

Cons

  • TX1 has no optical viewfinder to fall back on
  • the resulting image is of fairly low resolution
  • no HDMI cable supplied in the box
  • change the in-camera sharpening level
  • exposure is fixed once you depress the shutter button
  • did well on chromatic aberration throughout its focal length range
  • Sony TX1's Bionz processor does some heavy lifting
  • the big storage hog would be video
  • shots are not quite as sharp as a high ISO shot
  • Barrel distortion measured slightly higher than average
  • the touch interface is a bit slow
