The DSC-P5 is Sony's latest update to their range, joining (and soon replacing) the DSC-P1 on which its based. Those observant will have already noticed it's carrying the new '3.2 megapixel' notation which is in compliance with the new JCIA effective megapixel guidelines. The new DSC-P5 is almost 40 g (1 oz) lighter than the P1 it's also a little thinner, both of these facts are thanks to the new InfoLithium C NP-FC10 battery.Read more

  • accurate hues and good saturation

  • Dynamic range was very good
  • make it easy to shoot compelling lifestyle images
  • solid and well-built

Cons

  • the focusing system is not very sophisticated and can be fooled
  • it protrudes to far from the back of the camera
  • battery is tiny
  • P5's video capabilities are limited
  • infolithium technology to display an estimate of the cameras remaining battery life
  • Reverses the color and brightness of the image
  • LCD Display On / Off and Menu buttons
  • Power Save automatically shuts down the camera after a prolonged period of inactivity
  • streamlined silvery metal body is only an inch longer than a business card
  • The Menu button also turns off the menu display
  • all is not well with the lens
