The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G1 is a behemoth of a point-and-shoot, due in part to its beautiful 3.5-inch LCD. PMA 2007: After announcing most of its new compact digital camera range last week, Sony held one back for the first day of PMA. The DSC-G1 is Sony's first wireless Cyber-Shot digital camera, and it also boasts a 921,000 pixel 3.5-inch screen, 2.0GB (yes GB) of internal memory and advanced automatic image management.   • solid and well-built
  • make it easy to shoot compelling lifestyle images
  • focusing is very quick in good light
  • The LCD is a joy to use
  • The LCD also stands up pretty well
  • exposures look very nice
  • really nice MP3 player and a top-notch ultracompact instead

Cons

  • the G1 tends to push color saturation toward the overly vivid
  • none of my fingers fell naturally over any of the controls
  • video quality looks significantly inferior
  • Bad Awkward
  • occasionally frustrating design
  • mere 2GB of memory and frustrating Wi-Fi capabilities
  • hefty price premium is not really worth paying
  • short LCD blackout between each image
  • The small joystick is also very fiddly to use
  • The Display button toggles some limited information about each picture on and off
