Sigma are best known for their extensive range of lenses for other manufacturer's DSLR systems, but they also produce their own DP range of premium compact cameras and SD range of DSLRs. New for 2010 is the long-awaited SD15 digital SLR, which was first announced back at Photokina 2008, a long wait in the fast-moving world of digital cameras. Can the SD15 with its Foveon sensor still compete in today's market? Read our in-depth Sigma SD15 review to find out...
Sigma's Foveon X3 sensor design is unique, but does the SD 15 move it any further forward?
The Sigma SD15 is an oddly eccentric fourth attempt at a high-end digital SLR by a manufacturer still better known for its accessories. Good results are achievable, but, by golly, you have to work for them.
A well-built DSLR camera for photographers who want to work with raw files to obtain maximum image quality. It's taken a while for Sigma's SD15 to reach the market. First displayed at Photokina 2008 and then officially announced as a successor to the SD14 on 20 February, 2010, the SD15 has only just gone on sale locally. It offers a few updates to its predecessor but features the same Foveon X3 sensor, which has a focal length crop factor of 1.7x.
