  • sounds impressively solid and composed
  • The vinyl stage sounds amazing as well
  • the system wonderfully easy to listen to and absolutely non-fatiguing
  • the assocation with good source component is essential
  • It is thoroughly competent and eminently practical
  • The sound it gives is assured and involving across the board
  • over rhythms is extremely impressive

Cons

  • poorly produced or low-resolution material
  • swooped-in effect on the former Elicit's top panel
  • there are no tone controls or headphone sockets
  • faded from memory
  • sound began to open up and take on a sparkle that was initially missing
  • the bump up in power specs on the Elicit-R is significant
  • sounded closed-in and somewhat dull
  • If you have difficult speakers to drive
  • you lose power at very low frequencies
  • Lacks some of the detail of the PA5
  • the channel gain is not matched
