  • Simplicity is a virtue
  • Universal Control is a great piece of software
  • complete
  • flexible
  • reliable and high-quality interface
  • The metering is very accurate and features a peak hold on every channel
  • sound great and have plenty of gain/headroom
  • All knobs are sturdy and detented
  • headroom and and incredibly punchy and clear sound
  • The ability to create different monitor mixes is very useful
  • it performs just fine

Cons

  • input and output is not death
  • this parameter is very dependent on the computer used
  • Drivers not always on top
  • FW sound cards are not compatible with all PCI FireWire cards
  • can't use FireWire bus power to run the unit
  • this package is hard to fault
  • own phantom power switch
  • the software a bit lacking
  • the old MOTU finally gave up the ghost
  • are just an auxiliary input and play only through the main output
  • each analog input has only a clipping indicator LED
