The template for a mirrorless camera is tried and tested: a large body, an APS-C sensor, and a few lenses and accessories to help smaller, cheaper kit bridge the gap between compacts and DSLRs. The Pentax Q takes a

The most pocketable interchangeable-lens camera available provides a wealth of creative shooting effects. With the new Pentax Q, this innovative camera manufacturer has once again challenged convention by producing the smallest, lightest interchangeable-lens camera system currently available. Although the Pentax Q isn't a retread of the company's 1979 Auto 110 SLR camera, its designers have applied many of the same principles to give users a similar set of controls and functions to the company's larger DSLRs.

Pentax Q Hands-on Preview

The Pentax Q is the smallest interchangeable lens camera on the market. And, just like the company's famously diminutive Auto 110 SLR from the late 70's, it achieves this by embracing a smaller format than its peers. Being built around a 1/2.3" sensor, the Q is a fraction of the size of even the smallest existing mirrorless cameras and is the first really pocketable model (though the protruding lens still means that'll have to be the pocket of your jacket, rather than your shirt or trousers).

Pentax Q review: Insane Fun in a Little Package

I think the 'Q' in the Pentax Q name stands for Quagmire because this camera is nearly impossible to categorize. On one hand, it's a great portable interchangeable lens camera system, which will appeal to more advanced shooters. Yet on the other hand, the Pentax Q has a point-and-shoot worthy 1/2.3-inch 12-megapixel CMOS sensor inside. As a result, the Pentax Q is the world's first...

The Pentax Q is the most compact interchangeable lens camera you can buy. But a small sensor that limits fine detail in images, slow start up and processing performance, and a high sticker price hold this small shooter back.

The new Pentax Q is unlike any other camera on the market - an interchangeable lens model that's as small as a compact yet as full-featured as a DSLR. But can it turn more than heads and persuade you to part with £500 / $800 of your hard-earned cash? Read our Pentax Q review to find out...

Pentax Q10 review – Is smaller better?

Announced in September 2012, the Pentax Q10 is the second in the Pentax Q series and lays claim to being the smallest hybrid camera currently available, offering interchangeable lenses in a package barely larger than an advanced compact camera. However, is smaller really better, and how have Pentax progressed since the Pentax Q?

Pentax is not a company to sit quietly on the sidelines and watch the traffic go by. The most recent and startling example of this was the introduction of the Marc Newson designed camera, the K-01. Going further back and with more relevance to this camera under review were some Pentax products way back in […]
