The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7 ($499) is the long-awaited replacement to the very popular DMC-LX5. The LX5 (and its predecessors) was well known for its low light ability, and Panasonic has improved on that in two ways. First, there's the LX7's lens: with a maximum aperture range of F1.4 - F2.3, it lets in way more light than what you'd find on a compact camera. The fast aperture range also allows for better background blurring than what you'll find on nearly every fixed-lens camera on the market. In addition, the LX7's sensor and image processor have both been improved, allowing for less noise at high sensitivities.
Anyone in the market for a top point-and-shoot camera is probably deciding between Canon's S100 and Sony's RX100. But Panasonic is back in the game with the Lumix LX7, a sequel to one of the top shooters of 2010, the wildly popular LX5. Does Panasonic's latest have what it takes to beat these pocket titans?
The LX7 is an excellent advanced compact camera that has great photo quality. We highly recommend investing in a better lens cap for a pain-free photography experience.
Panasonic invented this category and it is still the one to beat.
Exceptional photo and video quality, nippy performance and lots of creative control – as close to perfect as we've seen from a compact camera

Two years on from the Lumix DMC-LX5, Panasonic refreshes its flagship compact camera series with a class-leading fast Leica lens and 11fps burst mode. Read the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7 review...
Panasonic LX7 is a 10.0MP Small Sensor Compact camera with a 1/1.7-inch sized CMOS sensor and 24-90 mm F1.4-2.3 lens. Read our LX7 review to find its pros and cons.
Even though smartphones have eroded the sales of digital compacts at the lower-end of the market, the high-end models using relatively large 1/1.7-inch type sensors continue to be popular. The DMC-LX7 is Panasonic’s compact “expert”’ model aimed at amateurs and advanced users alike, and replaces the previous iteration, the highly regarded DMC-LX5. This new iteration might represent a serious challenge to both the Canon PowerShot G15 and the Nikon Coolpix P7700.

It seems to me that the fixed lens, compact camera game has spawned two sub species: ultra long zoom models and those with ultra fast lenses … to some they’re called ‘bright’. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7 belongs in the latter category and a dazzling model it is too: compact, light in weight and full of […]
Panasonic's LX7 is the successor to their popular prosumer camera, the LX5. It features a much faster lens, among other improvements, and comes nearly two years after the release of the LX5. But even though the lens is brighter, the sensor size hasn't grown. Find out if that turns out to be good or bad news.
Panasonic updates its popular enthusiast's digicam with a re-designed lens, image sensor and image processing engine plus additional shooting functions.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7 has a larger than average image sensor and fast zoom lens, but it's best to keep the ISO set on the low side.
Not everybody wants a full DSLR and not everybody is content with the camera on their smartphone. That’s a difficult segment to fill, but Panasonic believes it has the line-up necessary with …
