Pros

  • excellent image quality with colors that were smooth and accurate
  • a nice upgrade on the cheapest models on the market
  • very good color
  • contrast
  • and shadow detail
  • HD50 held up nicely and the game was still very watchable
  • confidently out performs its price bracket
  • razor-sharp clarity of its images
  • funky form factor and easy setup
  • sharpness is exceptional
  • makes colours appear richer and more vibrant

Cons

  • the light fall off was not visibly noticeable
  • HD50 does not offer any gaming modes that improve the lag time
  • 129 ms lag is too slow for serious gaming
  • Input lag measured a very disappointing 129ms
  • 21% falloff in light output towards the corners of the image
  • Operating noise in Eco mode is a little higher than the norm
  • large offset lens and gloss white cabinet
  • cooling fan to slip into noisy overdrive
