Light weight and reasonable build quality
The focus ring operates smoothly and is fly-by-wire
macro function and 12mm wide end very useful

Fall-off There is only a minimum of light fall-off in the corners
thin focus ring is not mechanically coupled to the moving lens elements
plastic outer covering feels a wee bit cheap to the touch

The focus ring operates smoothly and is fly-by-wire
macro function and 12mm wide end very useful
great little lens for the money
very responsive and quite smooth
The zooming action is very smooth and even in both cases
excellent close-up performance for a zoom lens
focusing is extremely quick in most situations
Continuous auto focus is remarkably good
fast and precise
the ability to cover a useful range in one lens is worthwhile
Fast prime lenses will win every time
lens' autofocus works fine and is reasonably fast
this lens will work absolutely fine

Fall-off There is only a minimum of light fall-off in the corners
thin focus ring is not mechanically coupled to the moving lens elements
plastic outer covering feels a wee bit cheap to the touch
The filter thread does not rotate on focus
The lens does not feature a distance scale
match a prime lens for sharpness or shallow DOF
the lens is comparatively long - 83mm vs e
lack of them on the 12-50 drives me absolutely crazy
This lens is not meant for low light
slight haze is bothersome
chasing ultimate optical quality or having multiple lenses
The front element does not rotate when focusing
not the camera or the lenses
The lens did not come with a lens shade
Rating is only to be compared with other kit lenses
image quality for stills is a little disappointing
Olympus lenses have no image stabilization
