Is the 2DS XL still worth it?
    lyndia
I say it absolutely is worth it. With a large range of games (made even larger by its backward compatibility with the DS system's titles), there is no better time to grab one than right now. No, seriously, get one before you can't add money to the eShop anymore unless you have the Nintendo ID attached to a Switch.

Why did they discontinue the 2DS XL?
    josiah
Eventually, it designed a 3D-less clamshell console called the 2DS XL, which became available in 2017. As you can see, the company didn't abandon the 3DS family as soon as the Switch came out, but it most likely decided that it's the right time to retire the console because it's no longer selling like it used to.

Does the 2DS XL need a screen protector?
    marvin
The use of screen protectors is not required. However if you would like to use one, we recommend using only licensed protectors. If you don't wish to use a screen protector, the proper use of licensed styluses - such as the two included styluses - are designed to help prevent damage.

If You Actually Want to Play Games, Get the New Nintendo 2DS XL

The Nintendo Switch exists, and is a fantastic gaming system that you can, in a pinch, play in a bar, a car, or on the train. Phones exist too, and the games on them are better than ever. So why the hell should you own anything else? Because games. The Switch’s library is still small, and smartphones still lack those games you can get lost in for days. So if you want a mobile system that can go anywhere and play some of the best games ever designed, you need something from the Nintendo 3DS family, which despite being seven years old, shows no signs of being at the end of its life any time soon.
