What was unique about the GameCube?
    nedra
This is a sixth generation console that competed with the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The Gamecube was the first Nintendo console to use optical discs as its storage medium. This was a change from the long standing cartridges used up until the N64.

Why is GameCube only black and white?
    maynard
A GameCube can display black and white when the video cables aren't hooked up correctly. Most GameCube cable harnesses have composite cables, component cables, or some combination of the two. If you inadvertantly mix up these connections, the video will display incorrectly.

    Does nintendo switch use cartridges?
    titus_rolfson
Yes! Cartridges are awesome! The Nintendo Switch is the first home console in over a decade to use cartridges—the last was the Nintendo 64. Aside from the fact that it's being marketed as a portable gaming device, there are many other good reasons for using cartridges. They're faster than spinning disks and moving lasers, have no need for installing games to internal memory, are smaller than 3DS cartridges. Fun fact: they have been designed to taste awful to discourage children from eating them.
