On the camera's menu, make sure that the Network Connection option is set to On and Airplane Mode is Off. You'll need to download the SnapBridge app to your phone or tablet. Open the app. On your camera, go to Setup (the wrench/spanner icon) > Connect to smart device .

The Nikon D3400 is one of the best entry-level DSLRs you can buy right now. It's not perfect, but what it does do, it does very well. Featuring a beautifully compact body, a solid AF system, huge battery life and very good image quality, the D3400 is also incredibly easy to use for the first time user.

At normal quality you can record up to 29 minutes and 59 seconds of continuous video. On the camera body side of things, the D3400 has a movie record button placed on the top of the camera next to the shutter release that allows you to start and stop video recording in any mode.

More versatile than a fixed focal length prime lens, zoom lenses are often preferred by entry-level DSLR shooters, thanks to the convenience of having a range of focal lengths in a single lens. We’ve tested a total of 83 fixed focal length prime lenses on the D3400, including both FX-mount full-frame lenses, as well as the DX-mount optics that are specifically designed for use on the APS-C D3400. These lenses cover a vast range of focal lengths, from an ultra wide-angle 14mm for fitting lots into the frame, through to a super-telephoto 600mm focal length that offers a whopping 900mm equivalent on the D3400 (taking account of the Nikon 1.5x APS-C crop factor).
