The D3400 can record Full HD (1920 x 1080) video at up to 60 frames per second. There is no 4K UHD or high-speed video recording options on the camera. Overall video quality is decent, although it isn't anything to write home about.

On paper, the Nikon D3400 looks like what you would expect from an entry-level Nikon DSLR. The 24-megapixel sensor is just as good as the best crop-sensor cameras on the market, and it really is the primary selling point of this camera for many photographers.

Can nikon d3400 be used as a webcam?
    luciano_schumm
You can use a Nikon D3400 as a webcam or for real-time video capture to a computer. But it's not quite as simple as just plugging your camera in with a USB cable. And due to a limitation of the camera, you'll need to manually reset the Live View auto-off timer every 30 minutes.

The Nikon D3400 is one of the best entry-level DSLRs you can buy right now. It's not perfect, but what it does do, it does very well. Featuring a beautifully compact body, a solid AF system, huge battery life and very good image quality, the D3400 is also incredibly easy to use for the first time user.

The D3400 comes with a very useful framing grid which can be displayed on the live view screen. It is easy to achieve a well-balanced horizon—all you need to do is overlap the grid lines with a part of the subject.

Nikon D3400 best zoom lenses review

In part 2 of our review  of the best lenses for the Nikon D3400, we’re looking at the performance of zoom lenses. More versatile than a fixed focal length prime lens, zoom lenses are often preferred by entry-level DSLR shooters, thanks to the convenience of having a range of focal lengths in a single lens. Image quality isn’t quite as good on a zoom compared to a prime, however, with generally lower lens metric scores recorded in our tests, although some zooms come pretty close to primes. The physics of constructing a zoom lens means that very wide maximum apertures such as f/1.4 or f/1.8 are also rare, although some of the best performers in this review boast wide f/1.8 or f/2 maximum apertures.

Nikon D3400 best prime lenses review

We’ve tested a total of 83 fixed focal length prime lenses on the D3400, including both FX-mount full-frame lenses, as well as the DX-mount optics that are specifically designed for use on the APS-C D3400. These lenses cover a vast range of focal lengths, from an ultra wide-angle 14mm for fitting lots into the frame, through to a super-telephoto 600mm focal length that offers a whopping 900mm equivalent on the D3400 (taking account of the Nikon 1.5x APS-C crop factor).
