Nikon S1000pj review, find out how the S1000pj stacks up against the competition in our real-world review with in-depth image quality comparisons.
Here are the best point and shoot cameras, super-zoom, travel, and instant cameras that kids and adults will love
In the depths of my memory I seem to remember there was a camera cum projector way way back. We’re talking circa 1959 and the camera was the Wittnauer Cine-Twin, an 8mm movie camera/projector made by a Mr Oxberry, creator of the motion picture animation stand and optical printer. Betcha didn’t know that! Now Nikon
AskMen's Entertainment channel keeps you up to date on pop culture, gadgets, movies reviews, and gear for guys.
The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is the World's first and currently only digital camera to have a built-in projector, perfect for sharing your photos and videos quickly and easily with friends and family. In addition to this ground-breaking feature, the S1000pj also offers 12 megapixels, a 5x zoom with 28mm wide-angle setting, and a 2.7 inch LCD screen. True innovation comes at a price though, with the Nikon S1000pj retailing for an eye-watering $429.95 / £399.99 / €485.00. Zoltan Arva-Toth discovers if the Nikon Coolpix S1000pj really can re-create the excitement of those old 35mm slide-shows in our in-depth review.
Nikon Coolpix S1100pj
A lot of cameras get called "unique", but the Nikon Coolpix S1000pj aptly lives up to this tag as it hosts a built-in projector. It's definitely a novelty and fun to use, we just wish image quality was better.
I don't think we've written a single story about the S1000pj without making fun of it somehow, and now I feel bad. Yes, a projector-camera is still a patently ridiculous piece of hardware, but I'm kinda of crazy about it.
A point-and-shoot with a projector in it? Get out of town! It's true, and despite being super expensive, Nikon's novel shooter displays vibrant hi-def images up to 72 inches.
Nikon S1000pj is a 12.0MP Small Sensor Compact camera with a 1/2.3-inch sized CCD sensor and 28-140 mm F3.9-5.8 lens. Read our S1000pj review to find its pros and cons.
A camera with a built-in projector seems like a great idea, but image quality is nothing special and the projector risks being a short-lived novelty.
We review the Nikon CoolPix S1000pj - the first digital camera with a built-in projector.
You do pay a little over the odds for the camera, but what price do you put on novelty?
