Pros

  • Nikon performs very much better than some lenses
  • Colour fringing is also better controlled
  • the lens feels very solidly put together
  • The handling is superb and the autofocus is very responsive
  • build quality
  • focusing speed and optical quality are
  • build quality is very good
  • Sharp
  • very fast
  • 8 range is very good
  • the AF is certainly fast enough in the field

Cons

  • distortion is a little more noticeable than other lenses of this type
  • The dust only shows at small apertures
  • incredibly expensive and quite rare
  • Illumination becomes more even as the lens is stopped down
  • too expensive to justify
  • I would have hoped to a lens of a fixed focal length
  • it has no aperture ring
  • it cannot fully eliminate unwanted reflections when shooting against strong backlight
  • the lens suffers from a marked focus shift
  • the lens is a nightmare to focus
  • 77mm filters will not rotate on the front element
