fast
accurate and quiet AF performance
overall performance and handling are very impressive
16-80 was better at contrast
it is great to see such lenses come onto the market
Spot focus is very good
robust construction while retaining a lightweight and compact body

a listless soul-wrenched photographer
so not compatible with the 77mm filters
louder than on other Silent Wave Motor lenses
that either is painfully slow
tend to creep
The lens barrel extends further when zoomed out to 80mm
the lens looks and feels a bit too large
The front of the lens does not rotate on focus
heavy light fall-off in the corners and along the frame edges
no rubber gasket around the lens mount your camera body
high-performance standard zoom to match
Vignetting at 16mm is equally faint
Overpriced
bad flare toward the sun
resolution softer at 80mm
No Image stabilization
Corner sharpness is also disappointing at shorter focal lengths
Dim corners at maximum aperture
Not compatible with some older D-SLRs
