We first saw Libratone's Zipp as an AirPlay speaker in 2012 — we appreciated the design, but the speaker was overpriced for the sound quality it offered. ...
In making its speaker different, Libratone has opted to favor a more modern looking design with its Zipp portable speaker. Indeed, it’s not a totally new design we haven’t seen before, as we’ve come across several cylindrical shaped speakers before, but the Zipp offers a level of personalization that no other speaker offers. True to its name, the speaker’s high-quality Italian wool cover...
The Libratone Zipp uses a Wi-Fi-based protocol called PlayDirect to make connected music playback easier than ever. It works like a dream, but the trade-off may not be one you're willing to make.
There are several wireless speaker options out there today, most use Bluetooth for the connection. AirPlay speakers use WiFi and the sound output is greatly improved IMHO. The Libratone Zipp is an affordable and powerful speaker you may want to consider.

Looking for a premium, multi-room wireless audio system? A Father's Day gift, perhaps? Look no further than the Libratone ZIPP.
I recently met with the CEO of a high-end speaker company called Libratone to discuss his latest and most affordable product yet, the Libratone ZIPP. It uses AirPlay, which means you can wireless play audio from any number of iOS devices directly to the speaker. Since it uses Wi-Fi networks instead of Bluetooth, however, the sound quality is much, much better than what you can expect...
There will be wireless speakers in the future. Whether they will use DLNA, AirPlay, or Bluetooth isn't certain—none of those technologies are quite perfect yet. But some, like Libratone's new Zipp AirPlay speaker, are very close. And it's better the previous Libratone Live in nearly every way.
As a guy who spends a lot of his life on biztrips and bike tours, I find Apple’s AirPlay wireless audio technology to be almost useless. Give me Bluetooth, baby! Bluetooth lets me haul my Soundmatters FoxLv2 to exotic locales (Houston, Indianapolis, etc.), zap it with music or Internet radio from my Motorola Droid Pro or my iPod touch, and enjoy the same listening options on the road that I have at home—minus my vinyl collection and turntable, of course. But the new Libratone Zipp makes AirPlay almost as convenient as Bluetooth.
Libratone's newest speaker does both AirPlay and Bluetooth, and lets you link multiple speakers together.
The Libratone Zipp is a good sounding speaker with some cool features. We just wish those features worked perfectly every time.
We recently took a look at the new Libratone ZIPP MINI. I was impressed with the design, the features and, especially, the sound. The ZIPP MINI is, as the name suggests, the smaller version of

One of the hottest trends in consumer electronics is multi-room speaker systems. While single, portable Bluetooth speakers are fine for travel and using outdoors, many people are seeking simple and elegant solutions for whole-home listening.
