Pros

  • Display is impressive and can be adjusted
  • Construction
  • look and feel is good
  • the controls fairly intuitive
  • it is generally quite a pleasure to use
  • The controls are reasonably intuitive
  • The competition is fierce and that is good
  • image stabilization worked well for me
  • Controls are laid out very nicely and work extremely well
  • good instead and enjoy the ride
  • very good color

Cons

  • the lens does not extend and a message in the display warns
  • excessive noise at medium to high ISO settings
  • The lens cap attached by a length of thread is just a clumsy solution
  • the quality of the images was not up to scratch
  • lack of viewfinder and the annoying lens cap
  • no optical viewfinder - something
  • doesn't have an optical viewfinder
  • shooting that slow resulted in blurred photos
  • The pop-up flash is very close to the lens
  • built-in flash is prone to red-eye in portraits

Pre-Photokina 2006: Leica has today announced the ultra-compact D-LUX 3. This new camera (based on the Panasonic LX-2) has a ten megapixel 16:9 ratio CCD, Leica 4x wide angle optical zoom lens (28 to 112 mm equiv.) with optical image stabilization and a 2.8" 16:9 ratio LCD monitor. (While this camera is based on the LX-2 it has had image processing adjustments as defined by Leica).
