The new baby of the Envy family offers top value, performance and quality
HP's Envy 17 is a desktop replacement with plenty of speed under the hood, uses fourth-gen Core i7
This 17-inch general-purpose clamshell somehow manages to be both appealing and unremarkable.
Attractive, minimalist styling and an optional 4K display are upsides, but the HP Envy 17 is a merely adequate desktop replacement laptop due to its overly heavy chassis and some quirks with the touchpad design.
The Envy 17 TouchSmart in 2012 was a pretty impressive beast, but the new version now includes a built-in Leap Motion sensor, which attempts to bring 3D motion control à la Minority Report
The HP Envy 17t gives you a huge 4K screen at a lower price than some rivals, but don't expect performance to match.
The HP Envy 17t offers an eclectic mix of features and performance in an attractive (albeit large) package, but potential buyers should consider the heavy weight and average battery life before purchasing.
We test the HP Envy 17 cg1356ng with an Intel Core i5-1135G7, Nvidia GeForce MX450, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB SSD.
The Envy 17’s big ol’ 4K display is gorgeous but it won’t keep you company long
