The HP EliteBook 850 G1 fulfills the need for a large-screen business ultrabook. It's particularly IT-friendly, and that might tip the balance for companies that upgrade or service their laptops on a regular basis.
HP’s EliteBook series has long been its premium business-notebook range. For this generation HP’s naming convention has changed, going from a four digit model number to a designation that is similar to their servers. The model we are looking at for this list is the 840 G1, 8 being the series, 4 being the screen
In-depth review of the HP EliteBook 840 G1 (Intel Core i7 4600U, Intel HD Graphics 4400, 14.0", 1.8 kg) with numerous measurements, benchmarks and evaluations
HP's slimmed-down enterprise Ultrabook has plenty to recommend it, but it's definitely more of a workhorse than a thoroughbred.
With super-easy access to internals for upgrades and repairs, good looks, and comfortable ergonomics, this 14-inch business laptop sedately shines.
Not cheap, but it is powerful with an excellent display and battery life
For some reason this is classed as a business product. For that reason I am told it comes with Windows 7 Pro but also Windows 8 upgrade ready on the unit at no extra cost so you can choose. I was sent the non-touch version.
