  • It s accurate enough for most users
  • it performs perfectly
  • lightweight
  • easy to use
  • and perfect for an active day outdoors
  • All four buttons are well-designed and we found them very responsive

Cons

  • the screen may be easily scratched during use
  • screens give you a constant 10 digit grid
  • lack of software available from Garmin
  • No electronic map is otherwise used in this unit
  • no heart rate/cadence compatibility
  • it does not support cadence or heart rate
  • Mapsource will not be updated to support heart rate and cadence data
  • Garmin screens are never earth shattering and are not the reason for buying the
  • heavy
  • devoured batteries and had a teeny little screen that
  • The ForeTrex 401 is useless for elevation
