Pros

  • The screen is easily readable in the sunlight
  • solid
  • rugged and reliable handheld GPS
  • The software is stable and it just works
  • eTrex is relatively easy
  • eTrex fits nicely in the palm of your hand
  • compass screen is straightforward
  • The accuracy is fantastic
  • It worked well and got us to GZ with ease
  • affordable
  • lightweight

Cons

  • loses a bit of its color saturation
  • You cannot charge (rechargeable) batteries through the USB port
  • battery meter is only available as this little image with 25% notches
  • lack of connectivity
  • tedious user interface
  • you CANNOT transfer data wirelessly to the eTrex from a phone
  • a bit of a hiccup
  • older-style mini-USB port
