While most of the cameras in this category fall within the $500-$800 range (with a few exceptions), offerings vary quite a bit in terms of sensor size, control points, zoom range, video capabilities and built-in electronic viewfinders (or lack thereof). In general, we only included flagship compacts from each brand. All of the cameras here offer some sort of zoom range, in general, less than 8x. Fuji X-Q2 Review
The Fujifilm XQ2 is an affordable premium compact camera offering a large 12 megapixel 2/3-type sensor, fast 4x optical zoom lens, high-res 3-inch screen, 12fps burst shooting, wi-fi and 1080p movie recording at 60fps. Though it's a very modest update from its predecessor, the XQ2 is nonetheless a competent bright-lens compact for more than a full-auto experience.
Despite 12 megapixels of resolution, a 2/3-inch image sensor and an f/1.8 lens yield very impressive image quality, as shown in my Fujifilm XQ2 review.

The XQ2 is a high-quality compact camera for the money, and has lots of controls and easy-to-use Wi-Fi, but it struggles a bit in low light.
The Fujifilm XQ2 is a pocket-friendly camera that is capable of capturing excellent images.
Fuji's smart-looking compact camera is tiny but tough, and a delight to use
Not much use for video, but the Fujifilm XQ2 strikes an excellent balance of image quality, compactness and price.
