  • relatively fast and very quiet
  • stabilisation system is also quite effective
  • small and light and relatively inexpensive

Cons

  • It ends up feeling fairly front heavy on the compact M bodies
  • The plastic lens mount is a disappointment

Pros

  • relatively fast and very quiet
  • stabilisation system is also quite effective
  • small and light and relatively inexpensive
  • smooth and quiet autofocus performance
  • chromatic aberrations are exceptionally well controlled
  • Beautiful light
  • beautiful autumn colors
  • Better minimum focus distance and maximum magnification
  • optical performance across the focal range Excellent contrast and color rendition Compact
  • cosmetically pleasing
  • and mechanically functional

Cons

  • It ends up feeling fairly front heavy on the compact M bodies
  • The plastic lens mount is a disappointment
  • slight barrel distortion at 55mm and slight pincushion distortion
  • Crop from the above image showing no obvious coloured fringing
  • suffers from edge softness
  • there are no external switches for engaging manual focus or image stabilisation
  • M system is not at all satisfactory for this type of shooting
  • The texture on the zoom ring feels like it has been machined into metal
  • This site uses Akismet to reduce spam
  • The focus ring is quite small though and lacks haptic feedback
  • not without issues-notably softer edges and some fall-off
