Pros

  • The shape of the phone makes everything more comfortable when writing
  • faster and easier than on a computer
  • accessible-and affordable-for more users

  • 8700g has a help system accessible from the main menu
  • GPRS connection was suitably speedy in our tests
  • fine text is very readable in the default 13-line messaging mode

Cons

  • difficult to get used to the small keys that sometimes feel a bit loose
  • tight and crowded
  • Java support is still lacking in the 8700c's browser
  • Slow and technically tough patching
  • handset was thick and heavy
  • camera: The phone lacked a camera
  • Bluetooth files could not be exchanged with the only use being for a wireless headset
  • On-board memory was limited to 64MB
  • lack of a camera is an obvious shortcoming
  • some of its stock apps are a little rotten
  • The full 35-key Qwerty keyboard may look tiny
